Fluorite - Azusa, CA

This is a wonderful raw fluorite specimen presenting in a soft, translucent seafoam to mint-green hue that seems to glow from within. The crystal mass displays classic cubic fluorite cleavage planes across its surface, interrupted by patches of cream-colored matrix and rusty iron oxide staining that speak to the mineral-rich hydrothermal environment it was born in. Small vugs and pockets pock the matrix zones, hinting at where associated minerals once resided. The specimen has a satisfying chunky form — semi-rounded yet faceted, with the characteristic waxy to vitreous luster of quality fluorite catching the light beautifully across its cleaved faces.
