Firefly Circuit

A matched pair of small square canvases that hit like neon signals in a dark field. Deep plum and magenta interference base coats anchor everything, while bold vertical streaks of electric yellow-green, metallic gold, and hot orange slice down the left side of each piece. Scattered across the purple ground, cerulean blue splatter drops orbit around fluorescent yellow-green orbs — some clean and round, others bleeding into blue halos where colors collided wet-on-wet. The two canvases share the same DNA but aren't identical — one runs cooler with a flatter purple field, the other warmer with swirling crimson interference texture pushing through the base. The interference acrylics in these pieces shift hard depending on your light source. That plum base will ghost toward violet or sink into near-black as your viewing angle changes. The gold streak running alongside the yellow-green catches warm light and flares, then goes transparent and ghostly under cooler overheads. Even the blue splatter has an interference quality — those drops read as solid cerulean straight-on but shift toward a deeper, more mysterious tone at the edges. These were built fast and physical. The base coat was brushed aggressively — you can see the directional texture carved into the surface, especially in the close-up where the crimson strokes look almost like feathered muscle tissue. The vertical pours came next, laid down with gravity pulling them true, then the splatter was thrown while everything was still open — blue and yellow drops landing and interacting with the wet surface beneath, creating those collision points where colors merged on impact.
