Spore Field

Dozens of raised, orb-like forms crowd the surface of this small canvas — silver and bronze nodes nested inside one another like cells caught mid-division. They cluster and scatter across a deep olive-green ground, punctuated by aggressive splatters of cadmium red-orange that bleed between the formations. The overall effect is biological, almost microscopic — a petri dish view of something alive and multiplying, metallic and strange. The interference silvers and bronzes in this piece do serious work under changing light. The silver nodes shift between cool steel blue and a warm pearl depending on your angle, while the bronze halos surrounding them push from deep copper into greenish gold. The red splatter stays fixed and flat, anchoring the shifting metallics with its raw intensity. Walk past this piece on a wall and you'll catch it breathing — the orbs seem to swell and recede as the light moves. This is heavy impasto work, built fast with loaded brushes and deliberate finger placement. Each node was pressed and swirled into the surface individually, creating genuine three-dimensional relief across the entire canvas. The green base layer was laid down first, then the metallic forms were built up in rapid succession — silver over bronze, bronze over silver — with the red splatter thrown last as a final chaotic punctuation. The edges are painted through, gallery-style, no frame needed.
