Synaptic Carnival

A deep violet field alive with scattered interference dots and tangled, electric linework. Hundreds of iridescent orbs — shifting between blue, green, pink, lavender, and gold — float across the surface like luminous particles suspended in a dark cosmos. Bright yellow zigzag lines cut through the composition like lightning or neural pathways, while gold interference tendrils weave alongside glossy black gestures, creating a layered network of energy and connection across every inch of canvas. This piece is built almost entirely with Golden Interference acrylics, and it transforms dramatically depending on your light source and viewing angle. The dots shift from cool blue-green to warm pink-violet as you move past them. The gold linework catches light and throws it back warm, then goes nearly transparent when viewed straight on. Even the deep purple ground has a subtle interference quality that makes the whole surface feel like it's breathing. Under changing light conditions, new constellations of color emerge that simply aren't visible in any single photograph. I built this one in rapid layers — the purple ground went down first, then the interference dots were applied with quick, deliberate fingertip and brush-end stamps across the entire surface. The gold and black gestural lines came next, squeezed and dragged in fast serpentine motions, followed by the bright yellow strikes that tie the whole nervous system together. There's a density and intentionality to the pattern that rewards close looking — the macro shots reveal the crackled texture of the gold paint and the jewel-like quality of each individual interference dot sitting on the canvas weave. Painted at the homestead in Riverside, Washington — where the night sky is dark enough to see the whole Milky Way, and this piece carries that same electric, scattered brilliance.
