Violet Trajectory

A bold diagonal pour of luminous violet-pink cuts across a deep black field, scattering satellite droplets and raised bubble forms in its wake. The central streak moves from lower right to upper left like a comet trail, while a parallel secondary pour runs alongside it. The entire dark ground is alive with a constellation of splattered interference pigments — electric lime green, cool blue, soft pink, and gold — creating a sense of deep space punctuated by light. This piece is built entirely with Golden Interference acrylics, and the color shift is dramatic. That dominant violet streak reads lavender-pink from straight on, but walk past it and it cools into a silvery green. The raised droplets scattered across the surface each carry their own interference layers — some flash green at their centers with violet halos, others shimmer between gold and blue depending on where you stand. The black ground amplifies every shift, turning the surface into something that feels genuinely luminous. The technique here is pure rapid-form energy — controlled pours over a splattered interference field. The main diagonal was laid down in a single decisive motion, and the bubbled droplets formed naturally as the paint pooled and settled at speed. The macro detail reveals the canvas weave pressing through the interference layers, giving the thinner applications a textured, almost woven quality while the heavier pours sit glossy and raised above the surface. Multiple splatter passes built up the cosmic field before the main pour locked it all together. Painted at my homestead in Riverside, Washington — the kind of piece that happens when you let momentum take over and trust the interference pigments to do their strange, beautiful work.
